Well Plugging & Abandonment Planning
In preparation for a 70-well offshore P&A campaign, Beacon West performed a comprehensive review of available well records and developed a program for monitoring annulus pressures while preparing procedures for well plugging and abandonment. The team’s work included:
Compiling well histories, well bore diagrams, and identifying potential challenges to P&A operations
Installing gauges on annuli to monitor wells and record pressures, if present
Prioritizing well P&A sequence based on well configuration and monitoring records
Preparing the abandonment program including recommendations concerning caprock restoration, cement logs, cement composition, and mechanical plug preferences, and approach to fishing operations, if needed
Preparing bid packages for services including conductor pulling operations.
Developing budget estimates for each well
Preparing P&A program documentation for regulatory approval
Establishing routines for program / cost optimization throughout the work campaign.
